In a weekend of road action, the Wabash Valley College men's basketball team won a hastily scheduled game in Olney on Saturday, while the Lady Warriors fell twice in the State Fair Classic in Sedalia, Mo.
The Warriors defeated ABCDF Prep of Memphis, Tenn., 80-51, in a game scheduled a few days ago to make up for the contest against Paducah, which was cancelled earlier in the season.
WVC (2-2) was led Thomas Feeney who scored 20 points, while Lawrence Kinney scored his 13 points all in the first half. Rontray Chavis added 10 points for the Warriors, who put 10 players in the scoring column.
After leading only 40-31 at halftime, the Warriors began to open things up in the second half, outscoring ABCDF, 40-20 in the second half.
The Lady Warriors lost to Three Rivers, 58-55, in overtime, on Friday. The game was tied 50-50 at the end of regulation, completing a second-half comeback by the Radiers, who trailed 26-21 at the halftime. WVC was led by freshman Andirana Moore, with 14 points, the lone Lady Warrior in double figures.
On Saturday, WVC (1-3) fell to host State Fair, 67-56. The hosts built a 14-point lead by halftime, 42-28, and Wabash could not chip away.
Balance was the key for Zach Loll's Lady Warriors, with 12 players scoring points, though no one hit double figures. Demetris Snaden led with nine points.
Tuesday, the WVC men play a home game not listed on early schedules. The Warriors host Elizabethtown Tech beginning at 7:30 p.m. The schedule originally listed a road game at Kennedy-King, but the series between the two was cancelled this year. The Elizabethtown Tech game was scheduled in its place.
The Lady Warriors next host Lindsy-Wilson on Monday, Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Spencer Sports Center.
