Wabash Valley College Bass Coach, Todd Gill, is excited to announce the signing of Ryan Olsen for the 2024–2025 collegiate bass season. Olsen signed on Sunday, July 28th at Wabash Valley College.
Ryan is the son of Jerry and Amie Olsen of Gardner, Illinois. He is a 2023 graduate of Gardner South Wilmington High School. Ryan began fishing competitively in 5th grade when he competed on the Fishers of Men, Legacy Series. In 6th grade he qualified for the Angler's Choice Championship on Lake Guntersville and from then on, he was hooked. Ryan competed on the IHSA, ICASSTT, IBN, BASS, and MLF Series while in high school. He was a two-time IHSA Sectional Champion. He had three ICASSTT wins on Springfield, Braidwood, and Cal-Sag. He had a top ten on Table Rock Lake with Major League Fishing and numerous top ten finishes on the ICASSTT series. This past year, Ryan competed for Southwestern Michigan College and finished 48th at Kentucky Lake out of over 200 teams and 8th out of 196 teams at Saginaw Bay qualifying for the Bassmaster College National Championship.
Ryan's favorite lake to fish on is either Lake Guntersville or Kentucky Lake. Outside of fishing, Olsen enjoys hunting mallards. Ryan's fishing goals for this upcoming season are to qualify for one of the National Championships and he would love to accomplish another top ten finish. Olsen's planned course of study is business. Ryan would like to thank his Dad for getting him started fishing and also Dave Schultz who took him under his wing on the Angler's Choice series when he was young. He also wanted to thank Jerry Sanderetto for starting him tournament fishing on the Fishers of Men series when he was young. Olsen is excited about his opportunity to be a part of the Wabash Valley College Bass Team.
