WVC Bass Team Duo Finishes in 2nd Place

On November 14th and 15th, the Wabash Valley College Bass Team had three teams at the JUCO National Championship in Oklahoma on Lake Eufaula.

The JUCO National Championship was a two day tournament, and the first ever national tournament at the JUCO level. Coach Todd Gill had three teams at the event. The three teams consisted of Caden Pearson and Richard SkiffHunter Russell and Sam AusbrooksBrogan Gregg and Peyton Rose. After day one, Pearson and Skiff were in second place with 13 lbs and 8 oz. Russell and Ausbrooks sat in third place with 12 lbs and 2 oz. Gregg and Rose sat in nineth place with 8 lbs and 7 oz.

On day two, Russell and Ausbrooks tallied 12 lbs and 3 oz, which put them in second place with a two day total of 24 lbs and 5 oz. After surpassing their teammates for second place, Pearson and Skiff brought in 9 lbs and 6 oz on day two for a total of 22 lbs and 14 oz. That total gave them a fifth place finish. Brogan Gregg and Peyton Rose finished up nineth with a two-day total of 17 lbs. and 4 oz.

Hunter Russell had this to say on the experience and the second place finish.

"It was definitely an incredible week on the water for Sam and I. We were fortunate enough to run into a couple of the right bites each day of the tournament to come away with a 2nd place finish. After a great first day of the tournament, we had to re-find some of our fish for Day 2, which just happened to be in a different part of the creek. Within an hour window, we caught the majority of our weight at the end of the day. We cannot say thank you enough to Wabash Valley College, along with our great team sponsors for the opportunity to travel the country and fish!"

Congratulations to these six anglers on a great tournament.
