In a game that saw Wabash Valley strike first, momentum quickly shifted into the hands of the Saints as they controlled the first half. Shawnee took a 14 point lead at half, 36-22.
At the start of the second half, it seemed like it was going to be all Shawnee as they grew their lead to 17 points. The Warriors offense started to ramp up with 18:12 left in the game after Taj Ford connected from three. With 23 seconds left, the Warriors had a chance to win it tied at 59. Ford found Diaby on the left hand side after a screen. Diaby made his way into the short corner and Shawnee allowed him to get to his strong hand. After a drive through the paint to get to the right side of the floor, Diaby went up through contact and got the layup to fall with 3.4 seconds left. The Saints had a quick inlet and shot from half court that wouldn't fall. Wabash Valley outscored the Saints in the second half 39-23 and took the win 61-59.
Leading the Warriors in the score column was Taj Ford with 16 points. Mohamed Diaby tallied 14 points and Nazier Leonard added 11 points.
Also scoring for the Warriors tonight was Byron McNeill with 7 points, Khore Furlow and Rafe Merriweather both with 4 points, Justin Richardson with 3 points, and Jesiah Sloss with 2 points.
The Warriors are back home this Saturday at 3pm as they host Olney Central College in a GRAC matchup
